Privacy Policy
What information we collect, how we use it, and your choices
This Privacy Policy explains how 137 Finder LLC, doing business as PolitiFinder (“we,” “us”), handles information when you visit politifinder.com (the “Service”). The short version: PolitiFinder is a public, read-only reference site. You don’t need an account, we don’t run advertising, and we don’t use third-party analytics or tracking cookies. We collect as little as reasonably possible.
1. Scope
This policy applies to information we process through the Service. It does not apply to third-party websites or services we link to.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide. PolitiFinder has no accounts, logins, or sign-up forms. The only way to share personal information with us is to email us — for example, to report a data correction. If you do, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
Information collected automatically. Like any website, when you visit, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical request data — such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the date and time — in server logs used to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not run our own analytics and do not build profiles of visitors.
3. How We Use Information
- to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
- to respond to your inquiries and process correction requests; and
- to comply with legal obligations.
4. Cookies and Tracking
PolitiFinder does not set advertising or analytics cookies and does not use third-party trackers. See our Cookie Policy for details. If we ever add privacy-friendly analytics or other technologies, we will update that policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers to run the Service:
- Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
- Supabase — database and storage for the public election data.
These providers process limited technical data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies, strictly to operate the Service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PolitiFinder, our users, or the public; and, if the business is sold or reorganized, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
6. Legal Bases (EEA/UK Visitors)
Where the GDPR applies, we process the limited information described above based on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service, and to comply with legal obligations.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because we don’t maintain accounts and hold very little personal data, in most cases the only information tied to you is an email you have sent us. California residents (CCPA/CPRA) have the right to know, delete, and correct; we do not sell or share personal information. To exercise any right, email support@politifinder.com. We will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
8. Data Retention
We keep correspondence (such as correction reports) only as long as needed to handle it and keep a record of the change. Server logs held by our providers are retained for a limited period consistent with security and operational needs.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including managed infrastructure, encryption in transit (HTTPS), and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International Visitors
We operate the Service from the United States and process information there. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your location.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
